Trent Malloy


After returning to his family and home in Dallas upon his father's passing, Trent Malloy is thrust into a new world of responsibility he never imagined. Torn between a life-long dream and the opportunity to help his family through the most difficult season of their lives, Trent chooses to stay home, renewing his childhood friendship with now police officer Carlos Sandoval and his mentor Cordell Walker. After prayer, consideration, and a few near-misses with danger, Trent Malloy finally discovers what he wants to do with his life. Ultimately, he wants to help people. And through martial arts and private investigation, he discovers that the adventure of life has just begun.

Choose not to carry a gun after a childhood incident at approximately age 11 left him scarred for life and instead uses his martial arts training and eventually throwing stars for defense.

Was rebellious as a teenager until he became Cordell Walker's protégé thanks to the Ranger's "Kick Drugs Out of America" program

Left seminary as a young adult much to his father's dismay to pursue a career as a hand-to-hand combat instructor in the Army Rangers (Green Berets)

Holds a third degree black belt

Was set up on many unsuccessful blind dates by his best friend who shall remain nameless
His signature choice of ride is a 1973 baby blue Corvette Stingray convertible. In "Sons of Thunder" he rode a Harley.


Carlos Sandoval


When Carlos Sandoval was only twelve, he witnessed his older brother gunned down after refusing to be involved with drug-dealing any longer. Once seeing what his older brother's death did to his mother, Carlos desired to do everything within his power to see that no one had to go through the same things. After five years as a police officer in Dallas, Carlos reconnected with childhood pal Trent Malloy and his family and friends. Two years of teaming up with Trent and the Texas Rangers to solve crimes and help others in the community eventually led to the two friends starting Thunder Investigations as partners after Sandoval left the police force to successfully capture the man responsible for his partners death.

Was involved with gangs at a young age but made the decision to leave them when he felt that he could better his life

Was a uniformed police officer for at least 3-5 years when he reconnected with Trent. By "Undercover" he was promoted to Detective until "Moment of Truth" when he quite the police force to find the man who murdered his partner.

The ladies' man of sorts but undoubtedly has a heart of gold

Was a Big Brother in "Royal Heist"

Drove a Dodge Durango as his personal vehicle after he left the DPD. Previously piloted a Dodge Viper and several non-descript Crown Victorias as a Detective with the force.


Tommy Malloy


Tommy Malloy is Trent's younger brother and protégé. When cohorts of Jake Lyons bully him to the point of anger, Tommy is forced to reconnect with Trent even though Tommy resents him amidst the grief of losing his father. But he soon comes to realize that they can only overcome their obstacles by working together and turning the tables on the enemy as a team.

Was a green belt six months after beginning his training with Trent. By "Undercover" he had earned his black belt and was competing in the state tournaments. Won tournament in his category against Jake Lyons' students.

Enjoys athletics even before he began studying karate as we see him playing basketball to chill out

His best friend is Pastor Roscoe's son Adam Jones.

Perhaps had his sights set on a girl during "Soul of Winter" time frame that is a mystery to this day


Tandy Malloy


The one and only daughter of Thunder Malloy, Tandy is a sprightly little thing who despite being a bit outnumbered loves her brothers and enjoys time with her whole family and friends both inside and outside the Malloy home. Upon her father's death, we don't see much of her emotions. Yet we do know that she is a strong and brave little girl who cares deeply and has a supply of joy that lights up the world around her. Not to mention she can be a bit of a prankster when she wants to.


Tyler Malloy


As the youngest of the Malloy brothers, Ty is energetic and brave, helping his family anytime they need it while offering a helping hand and word of encouragement wherever needed. He is somewhat outgoing yet quiet, enjoying time outdoors while also relishing the chance to play pranks along with the little sister when necessary.



Katie Malloy


The matriarch of the Malloy family, Katie loves her family and wants to see them all succeed. She is strong woman, having served their community alongside her husband Thunder Malloy for most likely many years since the First Christian Church of Dallas's founding. And even as the greatest of losses effects her, Katie remains strong not letting her grief get in the way of seeing that her children find their way and follow the legacy that Thunder left them all.


Roscoe Jones


A long-time friend of Thunder Malloy, Roscoe Jones became the pastor of the First Christian Church of Dallas upon his close friend's passing after years of ministry alongside Thunder. His faithfulness and dedication to the legacy Thunder left behind would help him give Trent the courage he would need to find his place. And this would eventually help him overcome his most difficult adversity when his church was targeted by a cold-hearted nemesis from his past.
